Create Adobe PDFs with online tools

If you are interested in converting Microsoft Word (.doc) files or other documents to the Adobe PDF format, Adobe Reader 7 contains a menu option to an online PDF creation tool. With this online tool, you can convert MS Office files, graphics, web pages, and other selected file types to redistributable PDF documents for a monthly or annual fee. The following link has all the information: https://createpdf.adobe.com

Change default multimedia player

Adobe Reader 7 by default opens the standard Windows built-in player for embedded media files. To use other players instead of the default, Click "Edit" - "Preferences." Within the "Preferences" dialog box, click the "Multimedia" category. Next go to "Preferred Media Player", select your desired player from the pull-down, and click "OK."

Remember more documents

When you click the "File" menu in Adobe Reader 7.0, the four most recently accessed PDFs are visible. This tip comes in handy if you frequently view PDF files and need to access many more previously viewed PDFs. Click "Edit" - "Preferences." Then “Preferences” “Startup" in the left pane. In the right pane, next to "Maximum documents in most-recently used list", change the setting to 10. Click “OK”.

Read PDFs in full screen

Perhaps if you have a high resolution monitor or monitor large enough, you would like to read entire PDF pages at once without having to scroll. Click on "View" and then "Full Screen." Use the cursor or Page Up/Page down keys to scroll through the PDF. When you are done with full-screen mode, press the ESC key.

Do not check spelling when filling out forms

To turn off spell check feature when entering forms, simply click "Edit" then "Preferences.” Click "Spelling" in the left pane. In the right pane uncheck "Check spelling while typing". Click “OK.”

Label what all toolbar buttons do

If you wish to know the names of tasks all Adobe Reader 7.0 toolbar buttons perform, select "View" then "Toolbars" then "Show Buttons Labels" and finally "All Labels".

Convert PDF to a Text File

Depending on the particular security properties of the document, you may be able to export PDF documents* as text files. Open a PDF document in Adobe Reader. Select "File" then "Save as Text". Choose a folder, give it a filename, and click "Save".

Each page of the new document will have the following header:

FILENAME page ### of ###

Each page of the new document will have the following footer:

FILENAME_OR_URL DATE

*This is not recommended for PDFs with graphics.
